With the aim of helping consumers protect their pets, the Pet Food Patrol company has compiled a list of recalled foods by name and date. There are many reasons why a pet food can be recalled such as potential salmonella contamination, contains aflatoxin, elevated copper levels, elevated choline chloride levels and elevated salt levels just to name a few.
There are other reasons why a particular pet food might get recalled, but the company has stated that one of its aims is to ensure that people have the information they need to keep their pet safe.
According to the FDA, there are three types of recalls. A particular company can do a voluntary recall, the FDA can request a recall, or the FDA can issue an order under its statutory authority.
Added company spokesperson Rob B., “We want people to have the most up-to-date information possible. Whenever there’s a recall, we want the information in the hands of the consumer immediately so that there is no potential harm to a pet.” He added, “We all love our furry, feathered pals. We all want what’s best for them, including what we feed them. We should all be aware of what’s being put in pet food and why; and whether any added chemicals can or might cause harm.”
With that in mind, the company published the following list:
