Internet celebrity Nusret Gokce, who is better known as “Salt Bae,” is encountering legal issues even before he has opened the Dallas branch of his very popular steakhouse brand, Nusr-Et. However, on January 21, 2021, Dallas-based construction firm BengeTexas filed a lawsuit in Dallas County District Court claiming that Salt Bae owes them more than $933,000 in unpaid bills that are due to BengeTexas and its subcontractors for the construction of the restaurant located at Pearl Street in downtown Dallas.

Meanwhile, Salt Bae has filed a countersuit against BengeTexas alleging that the latter had diverted $182,000 in subcontractor payments to former Nusr-Et employee Steve Regan. Nust-Et claims that this was a scheme to defraud the restaurant. Nusret Gokce also claims that the $574,000 indicated in the lien affidavit is wrong.
