Manassas Awards Shop Partners with Local High School for Educational Program

Manassas, VA — A provider of custom-designed awards, Award Crafters, recently partnered with the Career & Technical Education Program at Prince William County High School to bring technology students from the program to their shop to gain some practical work experience.

“Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) offers a wide variety of rigorous and engaging Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs designed to improve academic and technical understanding, offer leadership opportunities, and deliver instruction through realistic, hands-on applications. CTE instruction demonstrates the relevance and purpose in learning as students prepare for post-secondary experiences, whether they plan to enter the workforce directly, seek additional training, or enroll in a post-secondary institution,” according to PWCS.

Additionally, all high school students who are a part of the program attend all their regular classes and activities at their base school (15 total in the area) and then are transported via bus from their base school to their assigned program each day. The students are then returned to their base school at the end of the day so they can ride home on another bus.

Award Crafters will also be consulting with the heads of the departments in the CTE to determine which real-life job skills and software to teach to the students in preparation for future employment. The owner, Jim Munden, is excited about the partnership and is thrilled to be aiding students in this workforce development program. “It’s great to see the schools bringing these programs back. College may not be the path for everyone, and these programs provide much-needed training for students to fill the existing jobs gap in this country,” stated Munden.
