Contractors State License Center (CSLC), a contractors license school in Los Angeles, is pleased to announce that they are offering California contractors home study courses. In this home study program, students can buy their own books, practice exams and study guides and prepare for the test by studying at home. However, unless the individual lives too far away, they suggest that people enroll and attend the classes to optimize their chances of passing the exam the first time they take it. This is a difficult exam that people who want to become a licensed contractor in California are required to pass to obtain a license. To help those who want to become licensed contractors in the state, CSLC is offering a comprehensive and effective curriculum to significantly boost the chances of the students to pass the exam.
The CSLC has created a home study program because not everyone are able to attend classes, for whatever reason, such as conflict of schedule or the classroom location is too far away to be practical to travel to and back. However, they recommend that as much as possible, students should try to attend the classes because they have been designed to be flexible and they only need to attend once a week for a two-hour session.
Eric Jacobs, an instructor at CSLC, says, “Our research shows that contractors have a higher passing rate when studying in a class room. In order to help you pass this exam, we have implemented an effective and comprehensive California contractors school, specifically designed to help you pass the test the first time. We offer a detailed curriculum in a classroom setting that is designed for your success. Our program that has been created over 20 years has helped thousands of our students get their California contractors license. We offer Contractor Classes in the San Fernando Valley.”
It is important to note that anyone who performs construction work in California and charges a fee of more than $500 is required by state law to be a licensed contractor. This includes individuals or corporations that offer services for the construction or alteration of any building, excavation, road, parking facility, highway, railroad, or other structure in California. Such businesses or individuals are mandated by law to be licensed by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) if the total cost (labor and materials) of one or more contracts for a project is $500 or more. They can be licensed as general builders, general engineering contractors, or in more specialized trades, such as well drilling, landscaping, framing, and masonry. They need to be licensed before submitting any bids. Such licenses can be given to individuals, corporations, joint ventures, partnerships, or limited liability companies.
The curriculum developed by the CSLC is composed of six courses that are focused on the subject of Law and Trade. The California contractor license exam is composed of two separate exams. One of these is the regular Law and Business test, which contractor candidates will need to pass to become a licensed contractor in California. Only those who are able to pass the Law and Business exam will be allowed to take a second test, which will be about the particular trade or certification area that they want to specialize in. Note that this trade test does not need to be taken by those who are want to focus on the C-61 Limited Specialty Classification.
