Contractors State License Center is offering Zoom classes in Los Angeles for contractors planning on appearing for the California contractor license exam.
Established in 1974, the Contractors State License Center boasts over 50 years of experience helping the state’s contractors prepare for the test administered by the Contractors State License Board. The school, which offers contractors license classes in Los Angeles, has implemented a comprehensive and effective teaching methodology and curriculum specifically designed to help contractors pass the test on their first attempt.
“Our research shows that contractors have a higher passing rate when studying in a classroom,” says Eric Jacobs, the spokesperson for Contractors State License Center. “Our classroom curriculum includes six different courses that cover Law and Trade. Since a lot of our students are gainfully employed while pursuing their license, the class schedule is designed to be as flexible as possible. We only require students to come once a week in a two-hour block. After you have completed six weeks of classes, you will practice by taking practice exams.”
The license examination consists of two separate tests. First, there is the Law and Business test that all qualifying individuals must pass. Second, qualifying individuals must also demonstrate a mastery of their chosen trade or certification area for which they are applying.
The tests are multiple choice with about 125 questions on the law test and about 80 to 125 questions on the trade test. To pass and obtain the license, applicants must answer 73% of the answers correctly on the law test. The exact percentage needed to pass the trade examination varies and is communicated at the test site.
“The test is conducted on a computer-assisted testing (CAT) system,” says Eric. “This is the same system that our own computer testing center is modeled after. So, our students get the chance to simulate the law and trade examinations they will take on a computer at the State Board. Our practice tests help our students become intimately familiar and comfortable with taking the exam with the computer.”
Contractors State License Center also offers a home study program where students can purchase books, study guides, and practice exams to prepare for their test by studying the material at home. However, unless the candidates live too far away from the school, it recommends students enroll and attend classes to maximize their chances of passing the test the first time.
“To make up for the lost time during COVID,” says Eric, “we started offering Zoom classes. Our in-person classes are also conducted with safe and secure cubicles for each student. Now, regardless of where you are or how busy your schedule might be, you can attend our Zoom classes and get the same high-quality educational experience that will prepare you to pass the test and start a long and prosperous career as a contractor in California.”
Eric and his team are immensely confident about their curriculum and study materials. The classes and the interactive practice tests have been crafted by contractors who stay up to date with the test’s requirements to guarantee a high success rate for its students. The company even promises that students will be armed with the information and techniques needed to pass the exam on the first try or they will get their money back.
“We have a full-time contractor on staff who is continually researching the test requirements and updating our materials,” Eric says. “In our affordable contractors license classes in Burbank, you’ll receive instruction from a certified instructor/licensed contractor who will explain and simplify the material for you and answer your questions. We also have a ton of resources such as easy reading guides for construction law and business, trade, and math as well as a whole suite of practice exams, videos, audio tapes, and CDs for you to browse through at your convenience.”
