The article relates that while there's nothing worse than being broken into, shop owners who don't manage inventory and have unorganized stock and equipment are hurt more when they can't give an accounting to police regarding what's missing.
“It’s always a good idea for business owners to assign a staff member to keep track of the equipment and stocks at all times,” says Connelly. “Do a weekly inventory to be sure.”
