Wilmington, North Carolina -
Peace and Pottery, a local pottery classes studio in Wilmington, North Carolina, is excited to announce the expansion of its services. Founded by Brianna Torres, a 21-year-old student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), the studio integrates creativity and mental well-being through engaging pottery experiences.
Peace and Pottery has something for everyone. They offer beginner 90-minute wheel classes as well as more extensive workshops and courses. For a casual outing, "Paint Your Own Pottery" allows participants to personalize pre-made pottery pieces. There's also the "Drippy Mug Workshop" for hands-on glazing and the "Pottery, Wine, and a Good Time" session, which combines pottery painting with wine for a fun, adult evening.
The studio recently added multi-week courses. These are designed to deepen skills and provide more comprehensive instruction. The three-week wheel course takes place on Fridays from 5-7 pm, while the six-week courses are held on Saturdays and Sundays. These classes are beginner-friendly and cover everything from centering clay to trimming finished pieces. This variety ensures everyone can find a class that fits their interest and schedule.
Brianna Torres commented, "Our new classes aim to make pottery more accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages and skill levels. Pottery has been a significant part of my life since high school, and I'm excited to share this therapeutic and creative outlet with others. I'm particularly enthusiastic about the mental health benefits that come with working with clay, offering a space where people can find both relaxation and inspiration."
Peace and Pottery also has an online shop, which will soon be restocked with unique pottery pieces crafted by Torres and her team. The studio plans to collaborate with local artists to offer exclusive pottery items. Customers can look forward to browsing and purchasing these one-of-a-kind pieces through the online platform.
Torres views her studio as more than just an art space. She believes it's a sanctuary where people can escape daily stresses and immerse themselves in the therapeutic process of pottery making. She is dedicated to making a positive impact on her community and is a strong advocate for mental health.
"I started Peace and Pottery to combine my passions for art and psychology. Our studio is a welcoming environment where people can come to unwind, express themselves, and experience the healing power of creativity. I'm grateful for the support from the local community and excited to see our studio grow," Torres added.
For those interested in exploring pottery, Peace and Pottery provides an inviting and enriching environment. By attending one of their many workshops, students can learn the intricate art of pottery making while enjoying a supportive and creative community.
