KINGSTON, JM – Mona School of Business and Management recently introduced, to the public, its revised MBA programme during a free information session in Kingston.
The information session was held at the New Kingston Conference Centre on Wednesday, January 27th and attracted scores of young professionals from across the island. A new start date in August for the internationally-acclaimed MBA programme was among the announcements made, along with new courses, which were developed after consulting with business industry leaders.
According to members of the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) team, the revisions to the MBA programme resulted from a collaboration with business stakeholders, in relation to developing forward thinking, work-ready graduates. The revisions include the addition of several new courses and a compulsory field project, whereby groups of students will be assigned to work on/solve a real issue/problem in a real organization over a three-month period. Another revision to the programme, a mandatory Business Analytics course, was said to result from employer feedback, and will be geared towards fostering relevant critical thinking habits in the workplace.
The MSBM team that delivered the presentation consisted of a number of lecturers, administrative staff, programme coordinators, and members of the management team. They included Dr. Lila Rao Graham, Deputy Executive Director - MBA and Diploma Provisions at MSBM, who presented on admission requirements, as well as the main elements of the revised MBA programme. Mrs. Patricia Lothian, Director of Finance and Administration, who also presented, highlighted the financial options available to current students and potential applicants.
Professor Densil Williams, Executive Director, mentioned MSBM’s global recognition as one of the top 1000 business schools in the world. He also noted the ranking of several programmes by prestigious international bodies, as well as the distinguished alumni who had gone on to make a mark in their respective careers globally.
A number of current and past students of the school provided feedback about their own MSBM experience. “A thousand miles begins with one step. Just start. I have no reservation of going to MSBM. If I get the opportunity to do my PhD, I will do it at MSBM,” said Devon Manahan, current EMBA student.
An intense question and answer session between attendees and members of the MSBM team followed the presentation. There was also a closed consultation session, which allowed attendees to meet directly with MSBM representatives, as well as representatives of several financial institutions who presented education loan options to prospective students.
Notably, MSBM’s MBA programme is among five of the institution’s graduate programmes which were ranked among the top 20 best masters programmes in the recently released 2015-16 Eduniversal Best Masters ranking in Latin America.
