Meredith Gardner, Ph.D., owner and founder of New York City based The Strategic Edge, is the recipient of the Marquis Who's Who 2017 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. The Marquis Who's Who has been a publication of biographical profiles of distinguished Americans for more than a century. Gardner is one of the first to receive this award, which celebrates her professional accomplishments and longevity as a Marquis biographee. Gardner is a behavioral psychologist, author, speaker, media guest, corporate consultant, and executive coach.
To become eligible for the award, Gardner had to be listed in a Marquis Who's Who publication for at least 20 consecutive years. She must also have had at least three decades of experience in a certain industry or career. Furthermore, she must have been published in at least two articles focusing on her expertise. Finally, she must have received at least one award aside from that provided by Marquis Who's Who.
Meredith Gardner says: "The award criteria are incredibly stringent. In fact, I have been informed that less than 5% of the people listed in the Marquis Who's Who qualify for the award. I feel truly honored to have achieved this and am grateful for being recognized by a distinguished publication."
The Marquis Who's Who was established in 1899 by Albert Nelson Marquis, who wanted to create an American version of the Who's Who publication that focused on the UK. The first edition of the Marquis Who's Who contained short biographies of some 8,500 Americans with substantial accomplishments. Albert Marquis had written that the goal was to "chronicle the lives of individuals whose achievements and contributions to society make them subjects of widespread reference interest and inquiry". Currently, the company has more than a dozen Who's Who series and has even created an online database containing the biographies of more than 1.4 million individuals. Who's Who in America has more than 90,000 biographies.
