Stamford American International School (SAIS) Singapore has announced that they have held their Back To School Nights 2019 for their various divisions, including primary school and high school. This SAIS school event was designed to offer parents an opportunity to meet with their child’s teachers and advisors. Through this event, parents are also able to learn more about school life and the learning program in Stamford.
Stamford American is a leading international school in Singapore for children aged two months to 18 years, with the mission of inspiring the students to create their own unique future. It is the first and only school in Singapore that provides multiple graduating pathways. Thus, when their students graduate, they will get a US-accredited Stamford High School Diploma with the option to receive an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or an Advanced Placement (AP) International Certificate that is closely related to their future college or career plans.
They have two centrally located campuses in Singapore and both are easily accessible by bus or by train. The first campus is the Early Learning Village, which is for students from Nursery to Kindergarten 2 and is found at 3 Chuan Lane. The Early Learning Village is only 10 minutes’ away from the other campus, the Woodleigh Main Campus, which is for students from Grade 1 to 12.
When in search for a high school or primary school Singapore parents have the assurance that Stamford American has well-rounded programs designed to inspire the children and help them develop, not just academically but also intellectually, socially, and physically. Holistic development is encouraged by these programs, such as the Performing Arts, Field Studies, and Athletics.
Stamford American’s Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Program provides the students with an opportunity to explore their various unique talents, develop new skills, and experience personalized learning in Singapore. There are more than 350 possible co-curricular activities to choose from. SAIS has even pioneered an online CCA registration program, which includes an online CCA brochure that provides information on attendance, transportation, payment module, and class teacher admin. This enables parents to sit with their child and plan a customize extracurricular program based on the interests of the child and the family.
Meanwhile, Stamford’s Athletic Program strives to develop student-athletes to their maximum potential. From Kindergarten to Grade 12, the school offers a broad range of team and individual sports designed to augment students' educational experience: basketball, badminton, cross country, golf, gymnastics, rugby, softball, soccer, tennis, swimming, track, touch rugby, and volleyball. All of these programs participate in the ACSIS league, the Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools.
Stamford American is also a member of the South East Asia Student Activities Conference (SEASAC), whose activities include all of the above sports as well as the Arts Festival and Model United Nations (MUN). Through SEASAC, high school students have the opportunity to travel and represent Stamford American around the region. In 2018/2019, Stamford hosted (and won) the SEASAC Division 1 Boys Volleyball Championships. SAIS also hosted the SEASAC Arts Festival. In 2019/2020, Stamford will host SEASAC Division 2 Boys and Girls Volleyball as well as SEASAC Junior Swimming.
And for students who aspire to become actors, writers, directors or producers, there is the Stamford Performing Arts Program. In this program, students put up 10 full-scale theatre productions each year at the school’s state-of-the-art Reagan Theater. This school theater has a seating capacity for 500 people and it is the only one of its kind in Singapore that has an LED backdrop screen. Weekly drama classes are held starting in Kindergarten and up to Grade 10. It should also be noted that Stamford American students can also pursue an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Theater, that prepares them for a career in the dramatic arts.
Stamford American also has a Global Mentor Program. This allows students to be mentored by Nobel laureates, thought leaders, star athletes, artists, and other role models.
