The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy (CRSMT), in Playa Sámara, Costa Rica, has announced that they have earned the prestigious recognition of specialized Institutional Accreditation by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA).
Specialized accreditation is crucial for a profession to ensure quality education. COMTA is the only accrediting agency of, by and for massage therapists and estheticians. COMTA has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a specialized accrediting agency since 2002.
CRSMT Director of Education, Beverley Giroud, says "I believe accreditation will provide potential students a higher level of confidence in our institution and programs. They can be more assured that their education will be accepted by licensing boards as well as provide additional opportunities for portability and job placement. We can be considered among the best and highest credentialed massage therapy schools."
The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy becomes the only COMTA Accredited Study Abroad Massage Therapy Program in the world. This is a special achievement because COMTA is the only specialized accreditor of massage therapy and aesthetics programs. That means the peer review process involves a more detailed and focused look at the curriculum of an institution by subject matter experts.
CRSMT has established itself as the world's premiere study abroad program for massage therapy education. It offers both a 600 and 700 hour massage therapy curriculum designed to give students the skills and certification needed to earn a massage license in most of the United States. In addition to holding COMTA Institutional Accreditation, CRSMT is an NCBTMB Assigned School, an Approved Provider of CEUs by the NCBTMB. CRSMT is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education.
