Middleburg Heights, Ohio -

STEVENS Engineers & Constructors, a proven leader in engineering and construction in North America, has announced that it recently installed a Spool Welding Robot (SWR) at its pipe fabrication facility.

"At STEVENS," says the company's spokesperson, "we always look at ways to improve and provide our clients with the best service. One of the ways we've done this recently is by investing in the Spool Welding Robot (SWR) from Novarc. Before the installation of the SWR, we were able to put out 10,000 LF per month. With this newest addition, we will be able to increase our throughput and capacity to better serve our clients."

STEVENS will be able to improve its output due to the cutting-edge dexterity and precision that the SWR equipment provides. For example, hand welding on an 18-inch XH pipe takes over 12 hours. With the SWR, that welding time can be decreased to 33 minutes.

The SWR also enables STEVENS to offer a range of other benefits to its clients' piping projects, including the ability to do a fillet weld (one of the only ones with that capability), handle pipe over 21 feet in length, non-stop welding as it can do root-to-cap welds without stopping, the ability to capture videos of the entire welding process for QC purposes, weld almost any type of pipe material allowing the company to increase the diversity of projects it can handle, the capability to weld a variety of joints with fewer space restrictions, and dual positioners for an increased flow rate as one station can be loaded while the other is being welded.

The spokesperson continues, "Most importantly, it allows STEVENS to reduce imperfections, reduce downtime, improve weld quality, decrease defect rate, and get your project done quicker. If you've got a piping project, whether it's for a steel mill, the oil and gas industry, or a wastewater treatment facility, STEVENS can handle your project in a timely and efficient manner. Don't hesitate to contact STEVENS if you need professionally created pipes for your next pipe fabrication project."

STEVENS Engineers & Constructors has years of experience working with complex piping systems, large and small piping projects, and a wide variety of customized piping projects for the energy industry, oil & gas industry, chemical industry, power industry, wastewater industry, government projects, and more.

STEVENS can accommodate many types of pipe fabrication projects at its pipe fabrication facility, including large or small-bore pipe spools, pipe racks, equipment skids, support steel, and ½" to 72' diameter pipe/light wall to XXH. The company's pipe fabrication shop has an 80' x 240' fabrication bay with a 15-ton overhead crane and 22 feet of clearance under the hook to handle any project design requirements, no matter how big or small. It also has a fit-up tack station and table, and 14 welding stations with 1 and 2-ton jib cranes.

The company's full range of pipe fabrication services includes pipes made out of carbon steel pipe, stainless steel pipe, nickel alloy pipe, aluminum pipe, HDPE pipe, and fiberglass pipe and equipment to fabricate pipe systems to the client's exact specifications.

STEVENS' pipe fabrication shop follows the quality control manual in accordance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Codes and the National Board of Inspection Codes. It boasts the "R" Stamp, which ensures that shop and field repairs and alterations of pressure-retaining items are done in accordance with the NBIC.

Clients can also trust that all STEVENS' welding procedures are done in compliance with ASME Section IX-Welding, Brazing, and Fusing qualifications. The company does shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), and its welders can help create a range of custom piping solutions for its clients.
