Personal Injury Lawyer Comments On Man Critically Injured At MSU Construction Site

LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman recently made a comment concerning the injury of a worker at Morehead State University. Moverman said that he hopes the critically injured man makes a quick recovery and that this incident will be an indication to policy makers that evaluation of safety precautions needs to be revisited.

According to The Morehead News, the accident occurred while construction personnel were working on building the new Wayne D. and Susan H. Andrews Hall. Police said the worker fell while doing construction at the site when a board on the scaffolding broke. The worker fell 35 feet to the ground and sustained significant injuries, the report said. Another worker also sustained minor injuries in the accident.

These incidents tend to happen at an alarming rate. According to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), there are about 2.3 million construction workers in the United States at any given time. Of those 2.3 million, almost 65 percent work on scaffolding. Statistics show that on average 60 deaths and 4,500 injuries occur while working on scaffolding every year. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in 72 percent of workers that were injured in scaffolding accidents, the accident was caused either by the planking or support giving way, the employee slipping, or being struck by a falling object.

Attorneys at Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman P.C. have many years of experience in helping the injured decide how best to pursue legal compensation for their losses. In one case pursued by the firm, a woman was awarded $20 million after she was struck by a bus and lost an arm and vision in one of her eyes. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured due to another party’s negligence. Qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.
