August 18, 2016 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman offered his condolences recently following an accident in which a worker fatally fell from scaffolding. Moverman said that the frequency with which these accidents happen is disheartening and that he wishes the family and friends of the worker comfort in their time of grieving.

KAMC News reported that a man fell about three stories from scaffolding at 1209 Broadway Street. The man had been painting and his co-worker was with him but on the ground at the time of the accident, the report said. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries and later succumbed to his injuries.

The leading causes of private sector worker deaths in the construction industry for 2014 were falls, followed by electrocution, struck by an object, and caught-in/between, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Additionally, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) stated that the "fatal four" were responsible for more than half of the construction worker deaths in 2014. According to the BLS, eliminating the fatal four would save 518 workers' lives in America every year.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.

“Most of these actions help to make our environment and the workplace safer so that others will not have to endure these painful losses,” said Moverman of the firm’s work.
