GrowUpSmart, the educational toys and games company, has recently announced its renewed commitment to producing their popular chess games from FSC certified wood. The company offers three wooden chess sets, each for a different stage of play. "The FSC certificate that we demand of our suppliers is a guarantee that the wood used for our chess games are coming from responsibly managed forests," says Martin Reinhold with GrowUpSmart.
Reinhold states that this commitment not only solidifies the company's relationship with customers but also helps to preserve the planet as well. "We care about the environment and deforestation has a major impact on both the local and global environment," explains Reinhold. "The FSC certificate is therefore an environmentally responsible choice."
FSC certified wood used by the company in the production of their chess games is regulated by the Forest Stewardship Council, an international nonprofit organization that was established in 1993 with the mission of promoting responsible management of forests around the world. The organization sets certain standards on forest products and certifies and labels products that they approve as eco-friendly.
Reinhold states that the company was founded to help provide games for children that are a bit more intellectual and challenging than tablets and smartphones. He says that while electronic devices can be used for education, children also need hands-on learning, which is what they strive to provide in their chess games and other products.
The company states that in addition to ensuring that their wooden chess sets are made from quality FSC certified wood which is safer and more environmentally friendly, they also want to help with the education of children. They offer challenging chess games as their way of accomplishing this task.
GrowUpSmart offers a beginners or basic chess set that includes everything needed to learn and play the game, including an instruction booklet for those who have never played. Additional sets include these same game products as well as a carrying case and additional chess pieces for those who have reached the advanced player status. More on the company and the games they offer can be seen on their official website.
