Kingston, Jamainca – Internet Income Jamaica’s latest Freelancing Boot Camp was held on the weekend of December 11 – 13 at the company’s Waterloo Road office at the Lee Gore Business Centre. One of the highlights of the event was a student receiving her very first order on her first day, less than an hour after setting up her profile on popular freelancing website, Fiverr.com.
The student, Jhenelle Francis, set up two gigs on the website in the morning session of the first day of the boot camp. Francis promptly received a message from a client who asked her to do data entry work for USD$5. Despite having internet trouble at home, she was able to complete the task by the end of the second day of the boot camp with help from the Internet Income Jamaica team. Bereek Green, one of the trainers, was singled out by Francis for assisting her in completing the order on time.
Francis has since received a five-star review for her effort and expressed surprise at the fact that she has started to make money online. “I really didn’t think it would be possible. I received my first 5 star review and is even more motivated to get my online business rolling,” said Francis.
“I'm constantly working on my profile. I've gotten up every day since the course with fresh ideas of how I can make my profile better and how to be a best seller,” she added.
According to Internet Income Jamaica CEO, Alicia Lyttle, this was the first time a student was landing an order in such a short time while at the boot camp. “We’ve had people get orders by Sunday [second day of the boot camp], but this girl got her first order before we even finished the first session. It’s the first time this has happened since we’ve been in business,” said Lyttle.
Internet Income Jamaica has been conducting intensive boot camps in Kingston and other parts of the island for over three years. The company has trained hundreds of Jamaicans to make money online in the process, with many earning a steady income since.
The record -set by Jhenelle Francis comes as Internet Income Jamaica continues to gain recognition for their efforts in training people how to market their skills online. A number of private and government individuals have partnered with the company in recent times, including the Hon. Julian Robinson, Minister of State in the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, and Les Brown, internationally-acclaimed motivational speaker.
