Anaheim, California - Alumni of the Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Anaheim, California, participated in the 37th Orange County Alcoholics Anonymous (OCAA) Convention that took place on April 15,16, and 17, 2022 at the Hilton Orange County in Costa Mesa.
The theme of this year’s convention was "A Vision for you (Re-Do) in 2022" and featured Al-Anon participation. The program calendar was packed with various activities for the attendees. There were marathon meetings, workshops, movie screenings, meditation rooms, a golf tournament, and more.
According to Sara Alba, Alumni Coordinator of the Lighthouse Treatment Center, attending the event with Lighthouse alumni was a great way to network and meet new people in recovery.
“Our alumni joined in for an awesome weekend celebrating and growing in their recovery. This gave us an opportunity to try meetings from all over Orange County. We also attended a banquet dinner, hosted workshops, and volunteered to help at the convention,” said Alba.
Michelle M., one of the Lighthouse alumni who attended the OCAAC, shared that taking part in the activities at the convention motivated her more and gave her inspiration to pursue her recovery journey.
“This was such an awesome event! I am so encouraged in my recovery. I feel inspired and met a lot of new people to support me in my recovery,” said Michelle.
Nico, another member of the Lighthouse Alumni Program, attended the convention as a way to celebrate his first year in recovery.
“I have never experienced anything like this in my recovery. I got to try out new meetings and feel really excited about my recovery. I got to take my year at the convention and it was an awesome way to celebrate,” said Nico.
