Anaheim, California - The Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Anaheim, California, gathered its alumni and staff to watch a Major League Baseball game at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim on May 21, 2022. The game was between the Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland Athletics.
Members of the Lighthouse Alumni Program met up for a sober tailgate before the game. During the game, all of the attendees had fun cheering on the Angels, which is Anaheim’s home team. They also enjoyed watching a concert and fireworks after the game.
According to Sara Alba, Alumni Coordinator of the Lighthouse Treatment Center, organizing get-togethers such as this one has always been a regular part of the Lighthouse Alumni Program.
“At the Lighthouse, we place importance on aftercare that’s why we have established our alumni program. By introducing different sober activities, we hope we can help our alumni enjoy life sober. We believe that events like this bring people together. We all had an awesome time cheering and watching the game,” said Alba.
Josh G., a Lighthouse Alumni Program member, shared that he had a great time seeing the game with so many sober people.
“I love baseball and this was the first game that I have been to sober. I enjoyed every moment. I am so grateful for the experiences with the Lighthouse team,” said Josh.
Selena S., another member of the Lighthouse Alumni Program, said that being with her fellow alumni was an amazing experience.
“Everyone at the Lighthouse Treatment Center always makes me feel like I am part of something great. I loved seeing so many people in recovery having such a wonderful time,” said Selena.
