Laguna Beach, CA - The Canyon Club will host its 6th annual Golf Classic on October 8, 2022 at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. This year’s event will include golf, dinner, silent auction, and a helicopter golf ball drop that is sure to attract many supporters. Proceeds will benefit The Canyon Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation providing support for the recovery and rehabilitation of alcoholics and their families.
“We are super excited to be hosting our sixth annual Golf Classic at Tijeras Creek this year,” said Event Chair Bill McGowan, “and there are countless ways to get involved. Whether you want to play golf, join us for dinner, volunteer to help, or just show up and have fun, this is an event you should not miss!” McGowan went on to say that “none of this would be possible if it weren’t for the generous support of donors and corporate sponsors.” The benefits of sponsoring The Canyon Club Golf Classic include brand exposure, networking opportunities, content in social media, and tax benefits. Corporate sponsors will also receive golf and cart for four, dinner, and tee gifts as well as recognition for their financial support.
The mission of The Canyon Club is “to promote the recovery and rehabilitation and prevention of alcoholism.” The Canyon Club provides a facility for Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon meetings, as well as a variety of educational, recreational, social and other activities and events that support the Club’s mission. According to club manager Mark Tappmeyer, “The Canyon Club doors are open to anyone who needs help or knows someone who does. When an alcoholic or a family member reaches out for help, the Canyon Club is there.”
Established in 1961, and located at 20456 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, CA 92651, the Club attracts people from all walks of life, each with the common purpose of seeking recovery from alcoholism. With over 55 weekly AA and Al-Anon meetings, over 2,000 individuals pass through the Club’s doors each week on their path of recovery. The annual operating expenses of The Canyon Club total roughly $300,000. The purpose of the Golf Classic is to raise funds to help meet those expenses.
The Club’s facilities are situated on approximately two acres in a rustic setting in Laguna Canyon between the cities of Irvine and Laguna Beach on State Route 133. The Club is easily accessible to all areas of Orange County due to its proximity to Interstate 5, Interstate 405, State Route 73, and State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway).
