Contractors State License Center (CSLC) is offering classes for contractors license in Los Angeles, which have been proven to help those who want to pass the exam to become a licensed contractor in California. The exam that is administered by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) is difficult but those who want to accept contractor jobs need to be licensed and only those who pass the exam can be licensed. Meanwhile, a CSLC study has shown a higher passing rate when studying in the classroom.
Eric Jacobs, an instructor at the Contractors State License Center, says, “In order to help you pass this exam, we have implemented an effective and comprehensive California contractors school, specifically designed to help you pass the test the first time. We offer a detailed curriculum in a classroom setting that is designed for your success. Our program that has been created over 20 years has helped thousands of our students get their California contractors license. We offer contractor classes in the San Fernando Valley. Our classroom curriculum includes six different courses that cover Law and Trade. The class is flexible, so you only have to come once a week in a two hour block. After you have completed six weeks of classes, you will practice by taking practice exams.”
Meanwhile, for those who are unable to attend the live classes, for whatever reason, CSLC has created a contractors home study program. Their students can use their study guides, books and practice exams to prepare for the test. However, they would like to advise would-be contractors to take part in the live classes as much as possible as these have been provident to cause an improvement in their chances of the test for the first time.
For anyone in California to be able to accept and provide any kind of building work for a fee that is priced at $500 or more, state law requires that such a person is a licensed contractor. California law mandates that all businesses or individuals that build or modify any building, highway, road, railroad, excavation, or any other kind of structure in Los Angeles has to be licensed by the CSLB if the total amount for labor and materials for one or more contracts is $500 or more. And the CSLB requires that a would-be contractor pass the exam that is focused on the specific trade or certification area that the individual wants to focus on.
Contractors can get licensed as general engineering contractors, general builders, or in more specialized trades, including framing, well drilling, landscaping, or masonry. Contractors, including those who are subcontractors, specialty contractors, and those who are in the home improvement business have to be licensed before they are allowed to submit bids. Licenses may be issued to individuals, joint ventures, partnerships, corporations, and limited liability companies.
All candidates will need to pass the standard Law and Business test. This is covered in six weeks of classes provided by the CSLC. Students only need to go to class once a week in a two-hour block. After completing these classes, students will then work on taking the practice tests and studying the study materials as much as they want. While they also provide a home study program where students can simply buy their books, practice exams, and study guides, and study the materials at home, they still recommend that students attend the classes to optimize their chances of passing the exam for the first time.
