MARGATE, Fla. – On Saturday, January 2, 2016, NFL veteran Bryant McKinnie joined Recovery On Air to share his motivational story of how he has handled high school, college and his ultimate NFL success. McKinnie has also become deeply involved in giving back to his Miami, Florida community through a variety of charities and foundations. His own foundation, B Major Foundation’s mission is to provide financial, educational, and social resources to single parent households and endeavor to promote AIDS Awareness among youths. B Major Foundation’s vision is dedicated to empowering single parent households and educating the youth on issues of HIV and AIDS.

Bryant McKinnie received a scholarship to the University of Miami and played on the 2001 Miami Hurricane team that won the National Championship. The team defeated Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. He was recognized as All American twice and was voted Sports Illustrated player of the year. He graduated Suma Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology from UM and won the coveted Outland Trophy. He was drafted in 2002 by the Minnesota Vikings in the 7th round and played with greats like Brett Farvre, Adrian Peterson and Randy Moss. In 2011 he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens where he won a Super Bowl in 2013. He was then traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2013 prior to retiring.

His story is one of football, faith and now giving back to the community. His website details his foundation and his business ventures which include owning a private jet shuttle service, a record label, and a foundation dedicated to helping single parents and providing education on HIV and AIDS. One of his personal favorites is each year he awards a high school student with an all-expenses paid prom experience based upon an essay they write explaining why they should be chosen for a prom night experience. At the core, McKinnie feels that building the self-esteem of young people will help them avoid issues like drug and alcohol addiction.

McKinnie shared his riveting story on Recovery On Air starting at 9:00 a.m. on 640 AM every Saturday. The show also broadcasts live on www.640sports.com.

“With McKinnie’s degree in psychology, he made for an interesting guest. His story is one that anyone who has dreamed of personal success can be inspired by.  He admitted that college and pro athletes do need to learn how to manage their off the field behaviors to avoid problems related to drinking problems, parties, drugs and strip clubs.” said Dr. Barry M. Gregory, Ed.D., M.Ed., LMHC, clinical director of Reflections Treatment Center and host of Recovery On Air Radio Show. “He is an inspirational young man that is an entrepreneur and a community activist proving that all things are possible.”

Recovery On Air is produced by Reflections Treatment Center, an outpatient facility located in Margate, Florida that was founded by Kenny Chatman.
