MARGATE, Fla. – On Saturday, January 26, the CEO of Kids In Distress Mark Dhooge joined Recovery On Air to share the inspirational story of how he has helped build one of the most effective foster care programs in South Florida. Mark has dedicated over twenty years to developing Kids in Distress into a state of the art facility where children and families have a safe place to communicate and heal. Kids in Distress is a licensed, nationally accredited agency working for the prevention of child abuse, preservation of the family, and the treatment of abused and neglected children since 1979.
Mark Dhooge found himself on the other side family issues as a police officer. He imagined that there was a better solution for families before the law intervened. This was the catalyst for a major life change. It is Mark’s vision for family preservation that drives the programs at Kids In Distress. When asked what has motivated him, Mark responded, “As a former police officer I quickly saw it was better to help kids and families, not arrest them. “
Dhooge shared his motivational story and his passion for Kids in Distress on Recovery On Air starting at 9:00 a.m. on 640 AM. The show also broadcasts live on www.640sports.com.
Mr. Dhooge stated that services offered by Kids In Distress are supported by government funding and private contributions. Their goal is to raise three million dollars a year in contributions to help offset costs. These contributions help maintain the core programs of the organization which are adoption, foster care, therapy and restoring family relationships. On their website, readers can find full details on their programs, volunteering, making contributions.
When asked what his biggest contribution to the success of the program is, Mark Dhooge said, “As a leader of Kids in Distress my job is simply to provide support to the great staff that work everyday to make a difference in the life of a child. We work hard to preserve and support the family who are often facing addiction and domestic violence issues.”
