First Aid Shoppe reported updates today to the one-way breathing valve on their Mini CPR Mask. The CPR mask is a fold-out mask that stows in a keychain sized nylon pouch for quick access and use in a CPR emergency. First Aid Shoppe is a first aid and survival gear company that specializes in equipment and kits for professionals and the general public.
"Our ResQue1st CPR Mask Key Chain has always been at the front of the pack when it comes to mini CPR masks," says First Aid Shoppe COO, Anna Loehwing. "And we've improved the centerpieces of the mask, quite literally, the one-way breathing valve. This is not a filter like some masks, but an actual valve that controls the flow of air to the victim."
During a CPR emergency the rescue breather would ideally be able to reduce or eliminate contact with the victim, protecting both the rescue breather and the victim from the transmission of germs and other harmful elements, including bodily fluids. A CPR mask provides the shield for this, but a typical CPR mask can be large or unwieldy to have on hand. This is solved with so-called mini CPR masks, which are usually folded and carried in some form of pouch. However, these smaller masks often give up features. The ResQue1st CPR Mask Key Chain Kit is full featured, with a fully functional breathing valve.
"We include five in each pack," says Ms. Loehwing, "so there's really no excuse not to have one somewhere readily to hand. Give them to friends, keep one on your keychain -- they're small, and this was exactly the use they were intended for."
Each mask pouch in the CPR Mini Keychain Mask is about the size of a typical key fob, and comes with an attached key ring.
