Sexual Assault Attorneys File Cases For Multiple Plaintiffs Against Massage Envy

January 13, 2016

January 13, 2016 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

AbuseGuardian.com reports on the growing number of sexual assault lawsuits that are being filed in various states against Massage Envy regarding the same locations, and in some cases the same perpetrator. Many of the allegations made are similar, in that they claim that Massage Envy was negligent in the hiring of therapists whom they should have been aware were unfit to perform the duties their job outlined.

Many plaintiffs are alleging that due to Massage Envy’s negligence there were many more victims after them, because Massage Envy failed to notify the authorities when sexual assault complaints were made to the staff members. Some court documents state that Massage Envy’s policy is to direct franchises’ to conceal reports of sexual assaults involving their therapists and “not to report said allegations to local law enforcement and/or state massage therapy boards.” If these allegations are true, then Massage Envy could be held responsible for numerous assaults occurring across the nation at their various locations.

This type of scenario seems to be the case in locations such as West Chester, PA, and Las Vegas Nevada, where women made complaints of sexual assault to staff members and were allegedly ignored. The same therapists who allegedly assaulted these women continued to work at these locations until the authorities were notified via the victims. This would directly violate not only the code of ethics laid out by the PA Board of Health, but by Massage Envy’s strict Zero Tolerance Policy regarding misconduct.

Court documents list a number of injuries suffered by the plaintiffs as a result of the assaults. Massage therapy already leaves the client in a vulnerable state, and an enormous amount of trust must be given to the massage therapist. Plaintiffs are alleging that Massage Envy is negligent in not taking reasonable steps to protect the unsuspecting public of these dangerous risks at a time when they are encouraged to drop their boundaries both physically and emotionally.

Attorney Brian Kent understands the sensitive nature of these cases, and is devoted to protecting the rights of the abuse victims. Kent states: “We are currently representing several clients in Massage Envy sexual assault civil claims, and are actively fielding questions from individuals regarding potential sexual assault cases.”
